Happy New Year (all 3 of 'em...)
As the title suggest, Happy New Year to all of you reading this. You might say, 'Hey dude, you're 2 months too late...', but I'll reply, '2 months? It's really only been a week or so'. Why I say this? Well, the 'Christian' New Year was about 2 months ago, yes, but don't forget we, yes, I mean WE, had ours back in the middle of January, and to 'some' of us, the new year came last week. So there, I was waiting until the greeting covered more than just one group.
Anyway last year wasn't too bad a year, except if you consider the 350 or so bad days I had during the year, but hey, who's complaining?
This year started off fairly ok-ish, followed by something Japanese-ish, followed closely by something French-ish, to finally where I am now, which I can only describe as shee-ish....
Japanese-ish... that's because me, the missus, the kids, and the in-laws went to Japan to visit my brother-in-law, who has about a year left before wrapping up his studies over there. It was bloody cold at times, and my feet literally felt like wood, ok let's no go there... anyway, it was a fun family affair, we got to squeeze in some site-seeing, although not traditional Japanese tourist hotspots, but hey it all looks Japanese to me. So does and apartment somewhere in Taman Melati, but that's a different story. Plus, we got to go the Hard Rock Cafe in Narita, near the airport, so that was also a highlight. Money situation, tight, but manageable. I think.
French-ish... that's because I had to go to a 3 day sit-down-and-pretend-to-discuss-important-things-but-actually-just-in-it-for-the-free-plane-ticket meeting in a small town (city?) about an hour or so from Paris. This time we left the whole entourage at home, and only me and the missus went. So the first 3 days were nothing to shout about, but we got to go around Paris on the 4th day, so we got to see the Louvre (Dan Brown sucks...), strolled around the Notre Dame thing, and finally went up and down the Eiffel Tower. That's it. Not enough time to see the other sites, but the 3 we did get to see were enough for us I suppose. Too much French can kill you. Look at Amelie Mauresmo, my god, if I had to direct a future installment of 'The Terminator' and Arnold Scwhatshisname was dead, I know who I'd pick in his place.
Shee-ish... or sheesh, or for the more vulgar, shit. There are so many things I am stuck in that I want to get out of, and on the other side so many things I want to get into but am no where near....Right now I'm taking it one step at a time, I won't say what they are, because I don't want to jinx it, but hopefully things fall into place, and I won't get stuck staring at a giant jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces.
So what's next? New phone? New laptop? New PS3? New car? New house? New blog post for sure. Until the next one, could be a day, could be a year. Let's see.
